remember when

Cool class, cool projects, 7/10 experience. But in all seriousness, this class was a favorite from my entire high school career. It was hard to stay on deadlines and create meaningful content due to my procrastinating mindset but it was fun to make nonetheless. For this project specifically, I didn't create what I wanted to originally, but it turned out okay. Research is research but since I used the same genre from last year, I had an easier time. Filming was a blast but I didn't get to go to all of the locations I originally had planned to go which resulted in a lack of footage making the project more painful. and I will never EVER use Premiere Pro again. Worst mistake of my life. Overall, I enjoyed creating this project.

decisions decisions

posters and such

Was looking at my really cool poster and since I pretty much dedicated this entire blog towards this show, I decided to use the same font for The Altos poster.

The difficult parts of this portion of the project was creating a tagline and finding an appropriate photo, relating to that photo. It came down to photos of money since I ended up focusing on the laundering/finance aspect of the film instead of the characters. The taglines were either going to be satirical or serious but indecisiveness won and I created both. (Posters will be uploaded in the very next blog)

chasing it

a bit behind on my schedule as i didn't start the editing for my second trailer but here's whats new.

-2 more posts on twitter

-2 more posts on instagram

what i'm stuck on: originally, i wanted to create a social media marketing stunt that most new movies do whether it's getting their lead actors to archive all of their posts or cross promotions with products. i'm now trying to figure out captions for each of my posts on Instagram that tie in towards my demographic and purpose of my film.

social media part THREE

I went along and created another social media account, this time on Twitter.

Since my target audience is mostly teenagers to people in their late 20's, Twitter seems like a viable choice to market the film on.

I've compiled a few still shots from my filming to post throughout the rest of this week and next week with set captions. (Including a Behind the scenes clip)

A short teaser on both social media accounts will be posted at the end of next week.

editing

Post Production! Last year I used Final Cut Pro and I ran into some audio issues so this year I was between Vegas Pro and Davinci Resolve.

It was a pain to import MOV files and converting them into MP4s. Plus, since this was my first time using Davinci, I had to learn how to use the programs (color, audio, transitions)

The first trailer is almost finished and since I never got the footage I wanted for my second trailer, I'm going to have to incorporate the footage I have already in a different way. Final cuts will be posted next week.

Edit: I ended up ditching Resolve since it couldn't import MOV files and converting them into MP4 files took way took too long so here I am learning how to use Premiere Pro the day the project is due. But, everything is online about this program and I've found multiple tutorial videos so it should be fine.

additional filming

Finished my filming for the first trailer, editing should be started and finished next week. I'm relatively happy with the shots and how they came out for this trailer but since I wasn't able to go through with my plan for the second trailer due to the lack of time I had to plan before I left for NY and the time for filming there, I'm going to have to utilize the same shots for different purposes.

Anyway, $4 a pound.
